Heritage Brickwork Restoration

Restored Federation-era brickwork — entrance facade, matched to original profile

The Challenge

The Kogarah Bay Residence is a significant Federation-era heritage property in Sydney’s inner south, featuring original dark brick construction, ornate stained glass windows and period detailing. The Owners engaged Wardell Remedial to restore the building’s brickwork, which had deteriorated significantly over time. Investigation identified deteriorated mortar joints across the perimeter brickwork, structural cracking at multiple locations, and areas requiring tuckpointing to restore joint integrity. Left unaddressed, these defects posed an ongoing risk to the structural stability and heritage character of the building.
